The Aele call it Slaying Night.

Every solstice, every equinox. On the world of Aelara, starting at sunset on those four days, hordes of monsters called Shadows crawl out of the darkness to feed. No corner, no shadow, no island is safe from them. For the winged Aele people, the only defense against the Shadows are the Glaivers: youths between the ages of 11 and 18 who can wield the Shadow-vanquishing Lightglaives.

New to the floating island of Castle Rock, a crippled Aele girl named Karu, who can neither fly nor speak, stays out of the keeptowers one Slaying Night on a dare. In doing so she meets a masked Glaiver, Sendossar, who takes pity on her and decides to try and heal her wings. A hesitant friendship develops between the two, one that will change the course of both their lives.

In falling for a boy who loves another, Karu discovers heartbreak, but ultimately that the real power of love is not found in strength, but in sacrifice. In healing a cripple no one believed would ever fly, Sen discovers the power of hope, and becomes a symbol of hope for a world that believes the Shadows will inevitably destroy them all.

Being chosen means her home, West Dell, will be free of the Curse that causes Dellian boys to run off into the forest or die…but at the cost of leaving her family and the only life she knows behind forever.

Auru, the Saa, is a quiet, distant but fascinating person, forbidden to reveal his true face even to his own Consort…and leaving her mostly alone to cope with her changed circumstances. Adding to Lily’s isolation are the constant attempts on her life by rebel Folk, who hate the Treaty and cannot abide a Dellian in their palace. Worse, one of the palace Elders and the boy she was betrothed to before her choosing may both be plotting against her.

Her only friend is a guard named Kieran, but their easy relationship escalates onto forbidden ground when she realizes that her feelings for him have progressed beyond friendship. Lily must ultimately choose between the the boy in the mask, to whom she is pledged, and the guard she has come to love.

In her decision lies the fate of Eldermarch.

Jasper, is an attendant to the Bac’yssnen. Only one nation still resists, and the armies are gathering even now for the final strike. Victory is within sight. She is devout and confident that her God will come soon. Until she meets the time-travelling Whisperers, who show her the future of Yonon. A future where the Unnamed did not come, where the Bac’yssnen became a madman, where the people rose up and overthrew the Shii priests who conquered them. Where religion died.

The truth shatters Jas.

Sandalphon, or Sanda, is an Eraser from the Nonumu Compound, preparing for her first mission. Five hundred years after the Great Betrayal, technology has flourished. Scientists have discovered how to travel back in time, they’ve developed a virus that attacks the part of the mind where faith and hope are born, and they’ve created the Erasers to spread this virus to key people, in key times, and erase the religious impulse from the human mind forever.

What Biana doesn’t know, however, is that when humanity left for the stars so many generations ago, they carried with them a dark secret. And there are some aboard Nereus who are still slaves to that secret.

Relations between mother and daughter are strained when Mom decides to stop at a cheap resort on the beach, further delaying their journey home.

Lotus Beach is almost too idyllic to be real, and the longer they stay, the more Stephanie becomes convinced that there is something deeply wrong with the place. Her investigations attract the attention of a geeky, easy-going worker named Cole and the mysterious resident witch of the resort, both of whom seem curiously eager to befriend her. But when her mother disappears in the night without a trace, Stephanie fears that one of her new friends may be in on the conspiracy of Lotus Beach.

But when two little girls from Ruth’s old community of Pineshores are also kidnapped by vampires, Ruth knows she may be the only one who can save them. Even if it means confronting her pain and embracing the “otherness” inside her.

But Misty Lakes High is having their ten year reunion, and Sarah Evans, trapped in a loveless marriage and a dead-end job, knows she has nothing to lose. Maybe in retracing her steps, she’ll finally be able to make peace with what happened that fateful night at the lake…and her own part in it.

It’s been ten years. Ash is a ghost, trapped between the world of the living and the dead, unable to remember exactly what happened to him. The town believes he drowned…but how does the MVP of the swim team drown in a lake he’s played since he was three? Stuck with him in the ghostly afterlife is his girlfriend Angela, begging him to forget the past, to enjoy their existence together.

It’s tempting.

But Ash had a guilty secret when he was alive, and now that secret is coming home.

Sielu’suoya: The Soul Eaters

Brand New - Guernica

When a group of teenagers decide to try and spy into the Playboy mansion, they get more than the show they’d bargained for. Erik, Sam, Andrew, and Chris accidentally stumble upon White Jade, Chief of the Luu’suoya. The Suoyas, or Eaters, exiles from their own world, have lived secretly among humankind for millennia, but tensions amongst the three clans have reached a breaking point. White Jade is pursued by a mad villain, and before he dies, he gives the kids a time traveling stone, and a mysterious charge.

“Find the Soul Eaters. Stop them from starting a war that will destroy humankind.

What started as a pseudo-vampire story turned into this. Obviously I don’t have many concrete details about where this story is going yet…just a magic system and a premise. I know that Sam is female and gay, and that will play a large part in the interpersonal conflict amongst the characters.

A kingdom swallowed in darkness. A princess, desperately seeking a cure for her beloved homeland. A soldier, exiled with his men to a living hell. And a mad brother, who could destroy them all.

Raethe never trusted the foreign princess Eolissi and her nobles, and thought he was serving his king by exposing them as a danger to the kingdom of Itasia. But the plan fails, and the nobles convince the king to banish Raethe, his soldiers, and the foreign princess to the Skels, a place of evil sorcery and darkness. Eolissi reveals that she’s the last living princess of the Skels, once called Uskelia, and that the only way they will survive is to break the curse over the land. They begin a perilous journey to the heart of the Skels to find Eo’s lost brother, whom she believes might hold the key to the curse. But even if Tydairin physically survived the fall of Uskelia, can he be saved from the darkness of the curse?

Lacuna Coil - Angel's Punishment

Hundreds of years into Earth’s future, nuclear fusion has been made a safe, reliable form of energy and humans have grown too numerous for Earth to support. Faster than light travel is still science fiction, but between the colonies and the recently-discovered Eversea, humanity hardly needs it.

Hundreds of colonies created from asteroids dance among the planets of our solar system, from Venus Moon III to the sprawling Neptune Ring VII, each one more sophisticated than the last. Pluto is in the process of being converted into vast resort for the old and retired, as well as into the latest gimmick: a planet-sized space ship.

Leona Rachele took a job as an engineer on the Pluto Resort, expecting nothing more exciting than long, stable employment and decent pay. However, nothing in her job description could have prepared her for an invasion of vengeful aliens, who have crossed the galaxy in search of a valuable planet that escaped from their solar system eons ago: Pluto!

The five rodents are thrust into a cat-and-mouse chase with Oberon, an alley cat sent by the gang boss to collect the enigmatic rat.
